Some Information about Plumbing and Plumbing tools

Piping materials used in plumbing: At one time, lead pipes were used for water supply distribution. Then, the standard became galvanized steel piping and then, copper piping. Today, many domestic water systems use either CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) polyethylene or copper. Copper is considered superior to plastic piping because of its durability, rigidity, and repairability. However, copper can become subject to corrosion pitting arising from elevated levels of chlorine which can be found in many rural private water systems. In those cases, plastic piping is preferred. Plastic piping is much easier for homeowners to install and repair without the assistance of a plumber. Copper water piping should never be used for an electrical service ground. Electrical systems should have their own independent ground. Doing so prevents galvanic corrosion of the copper water piping and, often the domestic water service line entering the house underground may be plastic, which will not function as a proper ground.
